About Placement Cell

The placement cell in SSM College, Dinanagar was established in the year 2012-2013. Since its inception the Placement cell has played a pivot role in creating the linkage between Industry and College.

In the world where competition grows by the minute and multiplies by an hour, placements have become a yardstick for excellence. At SSM College, we always strive to create an environment in which each individual is encouraged to step beyond the confines of the academic and administrative disciplines to explore newer vistas. Our placement cell was conceptualized and initiated taking into consideration the education and vocational training that they received within the campus in the business environment.

We are committed about cultivating talents in the arts and giving them the confidence to conquer the world by utilising their latent talent at SSM College. Experts from the corporate world share their knowledge of the industry, enhancing students' learning.

Objectives

Placements provide students with the opportunity to improve skills specific to their subject or industry of choice, as well as career advancement skills required for real-world work. It also broadens their knowledge of an industry or sector, allowing them to think more critically about future careers.

  • To conduct professional training programmes outside the curriculum to provide better placement.
  • To develop self-reliance in the students and develop the right attitude in them.
  • To develop life- long career decision - making skills in students.
  • To help our students in gaining final placement in well-known companies.
  • To provide assets and activities to assist the career planning process.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PLACEMENT CELL

  • To correspond with prospective companies regarding interview dates and event schedules.
  • To set up interview facilities on campus.
  • Receiving personnel and providing necessary information about the college, as well as coordinating with placement faculty and student coordinators for smooth operation at various locations (interview halls, Labs for online test, written test halls, canteen etc).
  • To collect appointment letters or to correspond with them as soon as the interview is completed.
  • To distribute appointment letters and collect acceptance letters from students for distribution to employees.
  • Provide required training [Soft skills & Technical] to students based on company needs via external trainers or internal resource members.
  • Organize a variety of training, placement, career counseling, and personality development activities.
  • Analysis of student performance in various activities; analysis of student feedback for activities related to placement training and career counseling training.
  • Inform the students about upcoming activities.

ACTIVITIES:

PRE-PLACEMENT TALKS BY PLACEMENT CELL

In pre-placement talks students get to know about the company and process of recruitment. These kinds of talks help the students to overcome their nervousness and build confidence in them so that they can achieve their goals. It is compulsory for students to attend as it is full of knowledge.

GROUP DISCUSSION

Group discussion built teamwork, and good communication skills in the students. Placement Cell at SSM College regularly held these type of sessions in which students were given topics for discussion. Through these sessions placement tries to build various qualities like listening, public speaking, and critical thinking in students.

CV BUILDING

While coming to applying for a job CV plays vital role in the selection of students. Our placement cell provides the format to students and helps them in building their CV. Students were taught to find their hidden talents and to make themselves proficient in relevant field. Spending ample amount of time on CV Building is recommended.

APTITUDE TEST

Placement team has a special teacher for conducting aptitude mock. These kind of sessions build various qualities like problem-solving, numerical skills, time-management in students. An aptitude test allows employers to evaluate a candidate's abilities using a variety of different testing formats. This activity helps the students in on campus and off campus placements.

OWN PREPARATION

Nothing beats this, and we encourage and advise every student to find time in the midst of the chaos to reflect and prepare on oneself. From writing down answers to frequently asked HR questions to review what has already been taught in UG and PG programmes to stay current with current events, and so on.
